Imphal, November 2, 2026: The second day of Imphal–Japan Harmony Week 2026 continued at the Imphal Peace Museum, Maibam Lotpa Ching, Nambol, with a focus on peace education, cultural exchange and strengthening the bonds of friendship between Manipur and Japan.

A special highlight of the day was the visit of Mrs. Jyoti Bhalla, First Lady of Manipur, who graced the occasion and embraced the spirit of the celebration by wearing a traditional Japanese Yukata, reflecting the warmth of cultural appreciation and friendship between the two cultures.

The day's programme began with a welcome address by Shri Haobam Joyremba, Director, Imphal Peace Museum, followed by a special address by Shri Naorem Praveen, IAS, Secretary, Art & Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur.

An important session on “Peace Education” was delivered by Mr. Atsushi Tsujimoto, Programme Officer of the Strategic Dialogue and Human Resource Development Programme, Asia Unit, Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF). The session highlighted the significance of peace education in promoting mutual understanding, dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

Another major attraction was the Yukata experience, organised with the support of the Japan Foundation. Going beyond a conventional demonstration, the programme provided an opportunity for students from different educational institutions to dress in Yukata and experience Japanese traditional attire firsthand. The activity generated enthusiasm among participants and offered a meaningful, interactive introduction to Japanese culture.

The day also featured film screenings, including See You “This” Week! and The Lines That Define Me, giving participants further opportunities to engage with Japanese storytelling, artistic expression and cultural perspectives.

Organised from November 1 to 7, 2026, Imphal–Japan Harmony Week brings together peace education sessions, cultural activities, creative workshops, film screenings and discussions on educational and professional opportunities in Japan.

The second day underscored the importance of people-to-people connections and experiential cultural learning in building lasting relationships. The participation of the First Lady of Manipur and the enthusiastic involvement of students added a special dimension to the celebration, reinforcing the event's message of peace, friendship and harmony between Manipur and Japan.
